St. John the Baptist Parish Church

I just have a sneak preview on history of our chosen church and reason why all of the church we chose St. John.

Well the main reason why we chose St. John is because this is parish church near my future hubby’s house and soon to be our house were we will held the reception. I think 2-5 minutes away from our house and the church is big and well its beauty was well maintained.

St. John the Baptist Parish Church was built 1572 and known as the ‘oldest church in Bulacan’. Constructed under the supervision of Augustinian priest Fr. Diego Vivar-Ordoñez, the church had been witness to the Filipino’s struggle against Spanish, American and Japanese rule. Inside the church is a tunnel that, according to history, was used by priests during the Spanish regime to keep gold, religious statues, and ornate jewelry hidden from the sight of treasure hunters. Likewise, it is in this tunnel where revolutionaries and Spaniards were buried during the war. This was also Gen. Tanaka’s (Japanese Imperial Army) last battlefield.

The Façade design of the church outside is far away from inside. The structures and other design were maintained and new paint polished, even the altar that are set in gold with Lord Jesus on top. See the figure below.

Many times when I prayed for Sunday mass I can’t help myself look up and watch those Angel painting looking and asking “why I can’t see my picture painted on the wall?”.  LOL Seriously, I really like the angel paintings as well as their altar. That’s one of the reasons why I chose St. John the Baptist Parish.

I haven’t asked the parish person in charge on what is the total distance of the ile from front door to altar, where will I held my walk on my W-Day but I sure nourished every step of it and will be my the greatest walk will I ever did.

I made sketch/instructions on how to get to St. John the Baptish Parish Church from Manila, this is for other guest outside Bulacan and for our Sponsors.
